Taking a person centered approach to treatment is essential and highly valued. Validation, reflections, actively listening and processing thoughts and feelings is my primary approach. My ideal client is motivated and committed to therapy and I will share the same commitment to my client(s).
My approach to therapy:
I specialize in DBT, CBT, anger management, spiritual counseling & motivational interviewing. I also incorporate nature with therapy. I offer traditional groups in an office setting, as well as therapeutic hiking. The benefits of hiking as a form of therapy can be discussed further one on one. About Tevin:
Hello everyone, my name is Tevin Weems, and I am a Licensed Social Worker in the state of New Jersey. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Rutgers University-New Brunswick. I have experience in clinical therapy working with children, teenagers, adults, and families, including marginalized populations. I have worked with men on issues that affect their lives, such as relationship challenges and raising children. I also have experience working with women and the issues that affect them as a population, including childhood trauma, abuse, and relationship issues. I am a therapist who uses empathy to connect with patients and to help me put myself in their shoes, which aids me in seeing their issues from their own perspective.
My approach to therapy:
I provide a judgment-free space where you can be open, honest, and free to express yourself. I utilize interventions such as CBT and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and work from an empowerment and strength-based lens that aims to empower patients to make positive changes in their lives. It has been my experience that all patients can improve their lives with dedication and a therapist who truly cares.
