Frequently Asked Questions

How to choose a therapist?

Browse through a list of competent, diverse and skilled therapists who can assist you with a variety of emotional needs from depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, etc.

When should you undergo therapy?

Ask yourself these 3 questions: Do my symptoms interfere with my normal routine? Have my symptoms lasted longer than 4 weeks without any relief? Do my symptoms cause me to withdraw from things that once interest me? If you answered yes to any of these questions, perhaps you can benefit from counseling.

What is the purpose of therapy?

The goal of therapy is to provide relief of symptoms that impact a person's normal functioning. Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a way to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms so a person can function better and can increase their overall well-being to promote healing.

What is group counseling?

A counseling group is usually comprised of six to eight individuals who meet face to face with one or two trained group therapists and talk about what most concerns them. Members listen to each other and openly express thoughts and feelings about what other members do or say.

What is crisis intervention counseling?

The purpose of crisis counseling is to decrease emotional pain, provide emotional support, make sure that the person in crisis is safe, and help develop a plan for coping with the situation. Sometimes it also involves connecting a person to other community or health services that can provide long-term support.

How to begin the process?

Answer a few questions about yourself and the challenges you're currently facing. Choose a therapist OR we can match you based on your answers to the questions. Use schedulicity to schedule and manage your appointments. Based on your needs, we'll match you with a qualified licensed professional counselor. If you are not satisfied, you can switch at any time. Begin the counseling process in any way that you want: text, phone or video. You can decide to keep your video off, the therapist will go at a pace that is comfortable for you.
